The American Heart Association will be getting a CPR kit in West Virginia schools thanks to a hefty grant from the Highmark Foundation, the Charleston Gazette-Mail reports.
The foundation's West Virginia Charitable Fund for Health awarded seven nonprofit organizations more than $800,000 in its first quarter of 2024.
The grants will go to the American Heart Association, the Eastern Panhandle Inc., CASA of the Eastern Panhandle, the West Virginia Community Health Foundation, Susan Dew Hoff Memorial Clinic, Wheeling Health Right, and the United Concordia Dental Charitable Fund.
"We look forward to seeing the improved health outcomes from each of these programs, and truly appreciate their passion and dedication to helping others," says Cathy McAlister, executive director of the Highmark West Virginia Charitable Fund for Health.
